Giovanni LaIacona's Profile & Demo

Giovanni’s Music Bio

An early music prodigy, Giovanni began singing for family at the age of three. He started clarinet lessons at six years of age. By age eleven he was singing solo at church. At thirteen, he began playing the saxophone. Giovanni performed “Harlem Nocturne” at the New York World’s Fair at sixteen.

During college, he expanded his repertoire to include rock, blues and jazz. A significant inspiration was meeting Paul Desmond, writer of “Take Five” and member of The Dave Brubeck Quartet. Another inspirational event in his musical career was meeting a young Paul Simon.

In 2000, Giovanni formed the Missing Link Jazz Ensemble. The Ensemble performed twice at the Columbus Jazz & Rib Festival, the Lancaster Festival and many other venues. He is partial to the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz.

"My friend Alessandro Siciliani, the symphonic conductor, and I recently recorded this love theme from the Italian movie, Cinema Paradiso. Thought you might enjoy it." - Giovanni
